A review of Intuitive Studies: a complete course in mediumship by Gordon Smith

When I first started down my path of mediumship, this book not only validated a lot of my experiences but it also gave me a good framework for understanding the foundations of mediumship and exercises to practice. What I enjoyed the most was that this book also covered other topics, like trance and energy healing.

Throughout this book, you read about Gordon's journey teaching mediumship courses and mentoring one student in particular. While I personally didn't follow his exact recommendations for timelines, what to practice, when to practice it, and so on, seeing this journey unfold for his other students was really helpful. I've read a few other books on mediumship and I found that this is one of the more encouraging ones. When you're just starting out, it's easy to get discouraged; especially if you teach and train yourself instead of signing up for mentorships or schools.

In this book, he does have a single chapter where he included hyperlinks to the exercises so it jumps back to the appropriate page which is something quite a few authors have been leaving out nowadays. While I'm not sure intermediate and advanced practitioners would gain much from this book, it is one that I recommend to all beginners and anyone remotely interested in spirit communication or working with spirit guides.

  1. Would I recommend it? Yes

  2. Who would I recommend it to? Beginner mediums/psychics or those trying to work with their spirit guides

  3. What I liked most: practice exercises, explanations, validations for the journey, and additional topics outside of just mediumship.

  4. What I didn't like as much: The training structure, timeline suggested for each step, and the order of steps/processes.

Format: I purchased it as an e-book on kindle and prefer that because of the quick search feature. I haven't used this book since I advanced so e-book also saves some money, otherwise I'd recommend finding a used physical copy or checking your local library.

If you read it, let us know your thoughts. Happy reading!
